Case Study - J Sainsbury Millennium Store

J Sainsbury Millennium Store - Is the UK's most environmentally responsible supermarket and become the first building to open on London's Greenwich peninsula, the site of the Millennium Dome. By utilising the simple law of nature that hot air rises, the store will literally breathe for itself by drawing in cool air at ground level at the same rate as warm air rises and is `breathed out' through the roof. This is similar to the Roman system for central heating. One third of a mile of north-facing windows built into the roof let natural light into the store. Large wind driven turbines (3.6 metres in diameter and 12 metres high) and solar panels located at the store entrance will generate power used to illuminate the store's signs at night. Our company installed and commissioning the entire BMS to control LIGHTING, CHP, WIND TURBINES, BORE HOLE WATER SYSTEMS and NATURAL MOTORISED VENTILATION.
